Oh yeah, that's right, I DO have an art blog...Sorry folks. Christmas/New Year madness and all that rot. This is an entry for a superhero contest run by Talenthouse. Hopefully even if I don't win I may expand on her universe someday in a comic book or something. (?) This is a mixed media artwork, a mixture of Photoshop, traditional drawing/paint media and paper collage. 'La Sombra' or Brazilian for The Shadow is a 18 year old heroine who is more of a vigilante-type of character, who takes revenge on the local crime syndicates and on the human trafficking rings of Rio de Janeiro who have kidnapped her sister for profit. Iara's powers are supernatural in origin, but her main ability is mastery of the martial art style known as capoeira. Capoeira was developed by colonial slaves who needed a way to defend themselves when they escaped, and you can check it out here:
